I let procrastination get the best of me this afternoon during the kids’ naptime. I should have been doing a million other things, but Julia’s watercolors caught my eye, and in just a matter of ten minutes I had these cute little birdies.
You just make a blob of watercolor, and then use permanent marker to embellish the birdie details. I might try to make a few more and frame one for Julia’s room since she has two imaginary friends, Birdie and Cooa, who, as you may have guessed, just happen to be birds. I think she’ll be tickled.
Then maybe I can perfect my Piggy technique for Mr. Grant, who, as you may have guessed, is a little piggy!
Giving credit where credit is due, I found the idea on Pinterest, which referred me to Elvie Studio, which referred its readers to Le Lapin Dans la Lune. Don’t you just love the internet? Thanks, real artists, for posting your ideas for amateurs like me to play with and enjoy. Making these made my day!

Are you sure you taught something besides art? This is ADORABLE!
Ha, Thanks! Click on the link to the blog where I got the idea. These are so easy to make! I can’t wait to try more!
I know what you feel when you drew it, it is fun! I like drawing too but i never try this type one hehehe. like it
cute!
Thanks!
You inquired about me and TWDBWJ. No, not baking with the group. Onto another book.
I’ll enjoy following your posts for the new book!
Well, I am saying “Hello” fom my six year old daughter who adores your “birdies” and “piggies”, she loves drawing and these certainly caught her attention when I looked at your lovely blog. You put a big fat smile on her face (she wants to become an “artist” one day) and this might be the perfect project for her. Great idea!
Awe! That’s so sweet! I tried to do this with my two year old after her nap, but she couldn’t get over the fact that I was using “grown up markers” for the details. I hope your daughter has fun making these. I can’t wait to try to do some more. Click on that link up above. She makes lots of other animals too!
