Fruit Gobbler

Just look at this cute little guy! He’s all ready for his big role as an appetizer for a family get-together!  Mr. Fruit Gobbler was easy to make.

You will need:

  • Bosc Pear
  • Melon
  • Cheese
  • Red , orange, and yellow pepper
  • Raisins
  • Grapes
  • Bamboo Skewers
  • Toothpicks

1.  Stabilize the melon by cutting a thin slice off the rind to form a flat base. Using a section of bamboo skewer, attach the pear head to the melon.

2.  Cut a cheese triangle beak and red bell pepper snood. Attach both, along with raisin eyes, to the head with section of toothpicks.

3. Cut red pepper feet and set them in place. For the tail feathers, skewer cheese cubes and red grapes, then insert the skewers into the melon.  Pin pepper side feathers in place with toothpicks.

NOTE: If you are making this and serving it to small children, keep in mind the sharp skewers and toothpicks.  You might want to double check those feathers for sharp objects.

This cutie pie did not steal the show at our get together. Ed and Cori made the most delicious roast with vegetables and pear, pecan, and Gorgonzola salad.  We were celebrating George’s parents’ 35 th wedding anniversary, and my birthday.  Yes, it’s been almost a  month of birthday celebrations for me! I’m so blessed with an awesome family.  It’s definitely time to start a cake diet…and no, I don’t mean a diet of cake, although that would be nice.

Gobble Gobble!
