I am starting to look forward to the middle of every month because that is when our box from Foodie Penpals arrives. I wasn’t disappointed this month when I received a package from Kelly in NYC.
Inside I found jam and apple butter, chips, peanut butter, tea, and peanuts. Each one had a Post-It note which described why Kelly chose that item for the box. What a good idea!
While I posed the food on the floor for the photo, Julia found something to occupy her time.
She loves bubble wrap so much that she didn’t see the jar of white chocolate peanut butter. More for George and me!
After the kids when down for their naps, I made myself a little snack of the Foodie Food. I didn’t open the jam or apple butter yet because I’m saving it for a special occasion.
Now for more details about these items:
Strawberry Jam and Apple Butter: Kelly helped her grandmother preserve these fruits. As a canner myself, I can appreciate all the work that went into these generous jars of preserves. I haven’t tried them yet because I’m saving them for just the right occasion, maybe for a time when it’s snowy and we want a taste of summer.
White Chocolate Peanut Butter from Peanut Butter & Co.: WOW! This stuff is amazing! Before I tried it I thought I wouldn’t be able to taste the white chocolate in it, but I can. Every bite tastes like a peanut butter cup. We have enjoyed it on celery and apples, and of course in a PB&J. Although it is from a local shop in New York City, it looks like you can order in online, which I may be doing.
Dry Roasted Peanuts: These can only be found in NYC, and I couldn’t find a website to link to it. I love the packaging with the New York skyline on the label. It’s more than just a pretty package, though. These peanuts taste like they were just freshly cracked out of their shells. George loves peanuts, and between the three eaters in the house, they are gone now.
Baked in Brooklyn Flatbread Crisps: These chips are delicious. We’ve tried them with some hummus and peanut butter. They only have one gram of fat per serving, so they are definitely healthier than chips!
Favorite Teas: Kelly also sent some of her favorite teas. These decaffeinated teas are great for the evening or afternoon. I especially like the cinnamon apple one. It makes the whole room smell like fall.
Thank you for the delicious treats, Kelly!
